About Dr Annahita Nezami
(CPsychol, DPsych, MSc, BSc)
I am a chartered counselling psychologist with almost 20 years’ experience of working in mental health. I am the founder of Dr Annahita Nezami Therapies and have been running my private practice since January 2017. I am trained in Psychodynamic theory and principles, Person Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I believe that the relationship between the therapist and client is central to the process of change, and aim to create a therapeutic space that is safe, respectful, and contained. I always work collaboratively, whether with clients or professionals, and draw on psychological theories and disciplines grounded in scientific evidence. I am determined, compassionate, conscientious, creative and justifiable in my approach and take pride in all my professional work. I have applied research experience in areas of forensic psychology and counselling psychology. My interests surround wellbeing, attachment, trauma, anxiety, depression, and personality disorders.
I care deeply about the people i work with, and I believe psychologists play an important role in not only helping to improve the wellbeing of individuals but also entire communities and societies and have devoted my professional career to this aim.
I gave a TEDx talk in 2017 and have talked about my ideas on improving mental health in newspapers, on radio programmes and at conferences in the United Kingdom and Europe.
I offer a free 30 minute telephone consultation, please do get in touch if you have any queries or book an appointment on my contact page.

Counselling and Psychotherapy
The journey of life is not always smooth and can be filled with unexpected surprises and twists. We have to tolerate the fact that we will die one day, that we will inevitably lose the people we love, we need to have purpose in order to feel fulfilled, we need to be vulnerable yet strong, we need to be authentic yet stay boundaried, we need to be compassionate yet assertive. Life is filled with uncertainty, and is sometimes inconsistent and contradictory. Sometimes the challenges of life are exacerbated because of destructive patterns of thinking, attachment styles or behaviours that we form in early life or because of abuse, trauma and injustice that we encounter.’Happiness’ can sometimes evade us, particularly when stormy weather’s have pursued our island relentlessly. From this place, rebuilding can seem daunting and our problems insurmountable, but it is from this place that we could all do with a little compassion, wisdom, and support.

I look forward to hearing from you
Appointments
I offer an optional free 30-minute phone consultation prior to an initial assessment to discuss your needs, to answer any initial questions you may have, for example, about my fees, the way therapy works, clinic location and availability. This consultation also provides you the opportunity to assess whether you can work with me and commit to on-going therapy.
I provide face-to-face and online Skype or Zoom therapy appointments. Internet based sessions provide you with flexibility and choice and can be used as the main method of therapy or as an add on service.
I accept self-referrals, and referrals from other health professionals.
Please note that if less than 24 hours’ notice is given, clients are liable for the full price of the consultation. If there is a medical or family emergency that can be evidenced this fee does not apply.
My consultation room is based in central Kingston, KT1, and is approximately a 10 minute walk to Kingston Train Station and Kingston Bus Garage. There is ample paid parking options nearby, such as Kingston Rose Theatre Car Park. I also provide on-line therapy (Skype/Zoom) to ensure i provide an accessible service to those who lead busier lives.
