About Dr Annahita Nezami

I am a chartered counselling psychologist with many years experience of working in mental health. I have been running my private practice since January 2017, providing therapy and consultation in Kingston upon Thames or online. I am trained in Psychodynamic theory and principles, Person Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I also offer a 12-15-week VR-assisted eco-therapy called Overview Effect Therapy®. I believe that the relationship between the therapist and client is central to the process of change, and aim to create a therapeutic space that is compassionate, respectful, and contained. I always work collaboratively and draw on psychological theories and disciplines grounded in scientific evidence. I am compassionate, conscientious, creative and justifiable in my approach and take pride in all my professional work.  I have talked about mental health on BBC Radio 4, The Weekend University, at Central St Martin’s and TEDX London, and published papers and articles with Springer and other media outlets.  I have research experience in forensic and applied psychology, and have successfully devised research studies with multiple Universities. My professional interests surround altered states of consciousness, well-being, attachment, trauma, anxiety, and depression.  On a more personal note, I have experienced my own personal disapointments and adversities and bring both my personal and professional experiences to therapy.
